Kidsons Cycles
This is my version of the "Kisdons Cycles" logo, originally by Tristan Boersma.
The first logo is in the colours requested by Kidson Cycles. The second is my own choice of colour.
I chose to go with a fairly bright and strong burnt orange, and a slate grey shade. I kept the black from the original logo.
The orange for the "s" is the first thing that grabs the eye of the viewer. Its shade is a cross between orange and red. Orange is a fun, playful, and light heartened colour.`

My designated role during the ‘Kidsons Cycles’ project was, first of all, to play with the chosen logo to develop new styles of the current design, as well as tweak the design, and submit it to be considered as the final logo. After the logo was determined, I was then assigned the task of crafting a new graphic layout for the Kidsons Cycles bike jersy.

Colors with emotion - Excitement
this picture represents excitement. the bright yellow lines give an energetic feel, and the white lines used to break up the color show movement.
information on the effects of yellow can be found here:
Colors with emotion - Calm
This picture represents calm. the shades of green and the flowy curves are intended to remind the viewer of a garden. "Green is a cool color that symbolizes nature and the natural world". The deeper greens represent foliage, while the paler shades represent the sun bouncing around and lighting up a garden. it attempts to make the viewer think of relaxing on a warm sunny day, among trees, perhaps in a hammock, reading a book; "Researchers have also found that green can improve reading ability"
you can find information on the relaxation properties of green here:
Colors with emotion - Anger
this picture represents anger. the mix of blues is used to show a cold bitterness, hatred for something. the steep shards indicate a violent feeling.
the reference to blue being an angry color to some, can be found here:

Portrait business cards, what do you think? | Graphic designer Andrew Keir

I find this card quite poor. the logo looks old and outdated. not only that, but it is boxed twice which gives it a tacky look.
Business card

In the above card, I like the use of red lines used to cut across the embossed shapes and the way the words are punched into the card to have the light be able to shape and vary around it. i also like the way the red box with the title, is countersunk into the card. the rough white cardboard used gives it a feel of cleanlyness, yet somehow messy.
